To make sure that DP vessel maintainers keep pace with the developing standards in a fast
changing industry, DPVMs renewing their certificates will now be asked to demonstrate
Continuing Professional Development (CPD) as well as experience.
To revalidate your certificate you are required to complete the following:
- 150 DP days within “valid from” and “valid to” date as printed on your certificate.
- Be enrolled in a NI-approved Continual Professional Development (CPD) programme.
- Pass the NI DPVM Revalidation Online exam (70% pass mark).
If you have less than 150 days you must complete the Nautical Institute DPVM Revalidation Course .
If you are completing the course for the first time, there is no sea time requirement.
Indemnity Letter
If you have not yet completed the CPD requirement, an indemnity letter valid for 12 months may be issued once an application is submitted and fees are paid.
Important Notes
- All DP Sea time and activities must fall within your certificate’s validity dates.
- DP sea time or activities gained after expiry will not be counted.
