The Nautical Institute, working with Industry Stakeholders, has taken the decision that the Old Offshore scheme will come to an end on 31st December 2025.
Applicants who are currently in possession of an Old Scheme logbook, will either need to complete the scheme and submit their application before this date, or if unable to, will need to transfer onto the New Offshore Scheme.
There are two routes to transfer, the one you follow will depend on the expiration date of the Induction course recorded in your logbook.
Applicants whose Induction course is less than 4 years old
If you have an Induction course that is less than 4 years old at the time that you wish to transfer to the New Offshore Scheme, it is possible for you to retain the course and just repeat the sea time, tasks and Simulator course. To follow this route you will need to make an application direct to The Nautical Institute, please see all information on how to do this here.
Applicants whose Induction course is more than 4 years old
If your Induction course is more than 4 years old, it is unlikely that you will be able to complete the rest of the scheme before the course expires. In this case, you can go direct to the training centre to retake your Induction course, where, on successful completion of the course and passing the online exam, they will issue you with the New Scheme logbook and enter the course information.
Note
As Old Scheme applications will include repeated sections due to them exceeding the 6-year limit, it will not be possible for candidates to submit their online applications without them first being checked and made eligible by the Qualifications Team.
Once all the relevant information has been added to the online application, including the uploading of all required documents, they should send an email to dp@nautinst.org, requesting that their application be made ‘manually eligible’.
