What happens if I revalidate my certificate after it has expired?

For the  revalidation of all DPVM certificate holders, the new certificate will be issued for a period of five years from the original certificate expiry date.

Example: if the DP Vessel Maintainer is required to revalidate the certificate in 2026 but only applies for this process in 2028, then the Institute will issue the DPVM certificate with validity until 2031 which  means that the DP Vessel Maintainer will lose two years of their renewal process and will be due to revalidate the DPVM certificate again in three years’ instead of five years.

*Note

DPO's wishing to revalidate an expired certificate may only do so if the certificate expired within the previous three years at the time of submitting their online application.  If your certificate expired more than 3 years ago, you should contact the Qualifications Team by emailing dp@nautinst.org
